MUSIC WITH MEGAN
An Untraditional Approach
Music should be fun! My lessons are geared towards keeping students engaged and excited. I've developed a very out-of-the-box teaching style that takes into account the student's learning style, interests, and goals. It's important for students to feel successful from day 1, and it's my goal to have each student playing a song by the end of the first lesson. We sing, move, and play our way through music!
Whether you're a total beginner or an advanced player looking to brush up on some skills, I'll custom design a curriculum to meet your goals and make sure we have a great time along the way.
Our passion is developing and empowering artists of all ages.
Growing up in the family music store, I learned a love for music at an early age. I started piano at age 3, and just kept adding instruments from there. I majored in music at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where I was on scholarship for Piano, Trumpet and French Horn. I have taught General Music, Band, and Orchestra in various Los Angeles area private and charter schools, as well as teaching music classes for home-school co-op groups in the Hollywood area. I've been teaching private lessons for more than 17 years, taking students from ages 4-adult, from beginner to advanced skill levels.
I have experience with non-traditional learners (ASD, ADHD, and other learning disabilities), as well as young beginners and early readers.
Jeff Wright has been playing drums professionally for over 20 years, and teaching since he was in high school himself. He has taught numerous drumlines ranging from high school groups to world-class WGI ensembles, and given countless private lessons. His students have gone on to great success and many have become instructors themselves.
After aging out of DCI as a snare drummer with The Concord Blue Devils, Jeff became involved in WGI as the first section leader, and eventually an instructor, for Infinity Percussion. In 2007, he was hired as a drum set player/percussionist for Blue Man Group, a position he still holds today.
Along the way, Jeff has drummed for Disney, League of Legends, Lil Nas X, Jackson Wang, church bands, top 40 cover bands, polka bands, original rock bands, etc… His experience as a performer provides his students with insight into the real-world applications that go far beyond the surface level of theories and skills taught.
